In-House Laboratory

We’re equipped to perform a variety of blood, urine, and fecal tests and more.

Our skilled veterinarians can tell a lot about your pet’s overall health and condition by performing a physical examination.

However, they often need to look deeper to find the underlying cause of a problem or to monitor a patient’s ongoing health. At TruVet Pet Hospital, we are extremely proud of our in-house laboratory in Frisco, which allows us to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently. Whether your pet is sick, injured, or just due for a comprehensive checkup, we’re equipped to perform a variety of blood, urine, and fecal tests and more.

Diagnostic Testing for Dogs and Cats

Our in-house laboratory is one of our most valuable diagnostic tools. It allows us to run a variety of tests at our facility rather than needing to send your pet or their samples elsewhere. In addition to saving time and being more convenient, in-house testing is often more affordable than dealing with an outside lab. We strive to provide the highest level of care to all patients, and providing this important service is one of the ways in which we meet that goal.

We use our in-house lab to perform a wide variety of tests, including (but not limited to):
  • Tests for viruses, including Parvovirus, Feline Leukemia Virus (FLV), and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
  • Blood tests
  • Skin scrapes
  • Urine tests
  • Fecal exams to look for hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, and tapeworms
  • Heartworm testing
  • Skin cytology
  • Ear cytology
  • Mass cytology
  • Complete blood counts (CBC)
  • Chemistries
  • Pancreatitis testing
  • Bacterial cultures
  • Tick panels
  • Histopathology
  • Bacterial cultures
  • Fungal cultures
