Ultrasound

This allows us to diagnose a variety of issues and begin treatment as quickly as possible.

At TruVet Pet Hospital, we pride ourselves on using the latest veterinary medical equipment to provide our patients with the highest level of care.

We invest in the latest technology and are always on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. By performing on-site ultrasound exams in Frisco, we can diagnose a variety of issues and begin treatment as quickly as possible. This diagnostic imaging tool generates detailed images of many internal structures in real-time and our veterinarians rely on it for various issues.

What to Expect

If you have ever had an ultrasound, you already know roughly what to expect when your pet has one. The procedures are very similar, except for needing to shave your pet before the exam. If you are unfamiliar with how ultrasonography works, it involves using a handheld probe attached to an ultrasound machine. When pressed against the skin, the probe delivers ultrasound waves. These waves bounce off of internal structures and return to the ultrasound machine, which generates detailed images.

We perform ultrasound exams in real-time, so this technology even allows us to observe the heart as it beats. During the procedure, we’ll observe the images on a screen as they are generated. This allows your veterinarian to diagnose the problem right away in many cases. However, we sometimes need to send the results to a veterinary radiologist for further analysis.
